Important Announcements

I am pleased to announce that I am now a certified coach through New Church Specialities, a church consulting and coaching organization based in Kansas City.  This certification comes as a result of my studies and experience in coaching both bivocational and fully-funded ministers.  You can find out more about what they can offer your church or judicatory on their web site at http://www.newchurchspecialities.com.  I am also a member of the Christian Coaching Alliance, a new division of the American Association of Christian Counselors, an organization with nearly 50,000 members.

You can now read my DMin thesis on "Coaching Bivocational Ministers for Greater Ministry Effectiveness" at http://digitalcommons.liberty.edu/doctoral/345.  This thesis reported on my project of working with five bivocational ministers in the United States and Canada and proved that coaching is a very effective tool is helping these individuals with the challenges they face in their ministries and in their lives as they try to juggle various responsibilities as bivocational ministers.

Coaching For Results

Have you ever wished you had someone to walk alongside you in your ministry and life?  Did you ever think it would be helpful to have someone to talk to about your calling, your vision for the church, or for issues you face in life?  Would it be helpful to have someone you could talk to about your future plans?  A Christian life coach can be that person for you.

Many of my clients have been bivocational ministers, but I am willing to work with anyone who feels stuck and wants to better understand God's purpose for his or her life and begin to move forward.  I have already helped several people achieve exciting breakthroughs in their lives, and I would like to help you to achieve far more than you may have thought possible.  We will work together to discern God's vision for your life and set goals to help you achieve that vision.

Who needs a coach?

  • Anyone who wants to better understand God's purpose for his or her life.
  • Anyone who feels stuck in life and isn't sure what to do to move forward.
  • Anyone who senses that God is calling them to a different task or ministry.
  • Anyone who is going through a transition in life - family, work, personal, financial, or health related.
  • Anyone who wants to take their life up another notch.

What does a coaching relationship look like?

  With a coach you get:

  • Someone who works to your agenda, not the coach's.  The person being coached sets the topic for each session.
  • Someone who will listen attentively.
  • Someone who will help you move towards the future, not dwell in the past.
  • Someone who cares deeply about your life and ministry.
  • Someone who will ask you the hard questions.
  • Someone who will maintain confidentiality.
  • Someone who believes in you and your purpose in life and is committed to building you up.
  • Someone who will celebrate your wins and encourage you during the difficult times.
  • Someone who will challenge you and hold you accountable.
  • Someone who can recommend cutting edge resources to help you move forward.

The coaching process is a simple one:

  • After indicating your interest in having a coach you will receive a packet in the mail containing a coaching agreement and a questionnaire to help me get to know you better.
  • When I receive the agreement and questionnaire back we will set up an appointment for our first coaching session.  This appointment is normally done by e-mail.
  • We will schedule two sessions each month.  I request a minimum three-month agreement as it does take time for us to get to know one another.
  • The coaching sessions are by telephone and will last approximately one hour each.  The person being coached is responsible to call the coach at the designated time.
  • Each coaching session ends with specific goals to be accomplished before the next coaching session to help keep the person being coached on track with their desired outcomes.

I believe investing in yourself is the best investment a person can make in his or her life, and coaching is just such an investment.  If you think a coach might help you move forward in your life or ministry, I encourage you to contact me at 812-265-5456 or by e-mail.  We can discuss your needs and determine if coaching will help you continue to move forward with your life.
